Needs and Fit Analysis

Understand what you need, how your work or study fits you, and what would help. No diagnosis needed.

What it is

The Needs and Fit Analysis is a structured assessment of your strengths, your needs and how your capacity changes, and of how well your work or study environment fits you. It ends with a practical adjustment plan that you own. It is not a diagnosis and it is not a personality test. It looks at the fit between you and your environment, because that is usually what can change.

Who it’s for

Anyone who finds that work, study or everyday demands don’t fit how they think, feel, sense or work. This includes people with mental health challenges, neurodivergent people, people waiting for an assessment and people who simply know something isn’t working.

Two to four weeks

How it works

The steps

  1. 1

First conversation. We talk about what’s happening and what you hope to change.

  2. 2

Capacity check-ins. For two to four weeks you track your energy and mood in the FigCit App.

  3. 3

Needs and fit conversations. We explore your strengths, what drains you and what your environment asks of you.

  4. 4

Your report. A clear picture of your needs and where the fit breaks down.

  5. 5

Your plan. Practical adjustments, with an optional follow-up plan to check they work.

What you receive

The analysis includes

Your analysis includes

  • A personal needs and fit report. It belongs to you.
  • An adjustment plan you can share with your employer, college or university, only if you choose to.
  • Signposting to your GP or other services if you would benefit from more support.
  • An optional follow-up plan, with reviews at two weeks, one month, three, six and twelve months, then yearly.

Your choice, your information

Your full report is yours. If your organisation pays for your analysis, we agree with you at the start what will be shared, and nothing is shared without your consent. Your information is stored securely in the UK.

Ways to access it

  • Through your employer, college or university

Many organisations pay for analyses for their staff or students. Ask your HR team or student support service.

  • Referred by a GP link worker or social prescriber

Ask whether a referral to FigCit is available in your area.

  • On your own

£150–£195, payable in three instalments. Ask us about sponsored places.

Do I need a diagnosis?

No. Under the Equality Act 2010, what matters is the effect on your day-to-day life, not the label.

Is this a medical assessment?

No. We don’t diagnose or treat. If a medical assessment would help, we tell you how to ask for one.

Will my employer see my report?

Not unless you agree. Your plan can be shared with your consent so that changes can be made.

Can it help with Access to Work?

Your plan can help you describe what you need when you apply to Access to Work, the government scheme that can fund some support at work.

What if my job doesn’t fit me at all?

Most misfits can be solved by changing how the work is done. Where they can’t, your plan sets out options. An analysis is never used to decide whether you keep your job.
